[ She makes a quiet contented noise and shifts to swing her legs up onto the bed properly, draping them over his as she curls up against his side. ]

Maybe it's more surprising that it didn't happen sooner... it's a little frustrating, though. If we had more time...

[ He free hand settles at her waist as he sighs, clearly enjoying the contact. ]

I wonder if they’ll kill again. There isn’t anything we can do it about it, but I still wonder.

[ But he doesn’t sound all that worried. ]

[ She nods, closing her eyes and relaxing against him. Either she's also not worried or she's just too tired to be tense. ]

It would be easier to guess if we knew who, or why. Was it just a fight? I don't think they would have gone through all that trouble for Skywarp if they disliked him.

[ There's an undecided note there that isn't quite sadness. ]

[ He pauses in thought, looking up at the ceiling. ]

I wonder if it was a duel.

[ She lets out a sigh as she reaches up to wind some of his hair lightly around her fingers, a little self-soothing. ]

I think Skywarp would have jumped at the chance if he thought it would be interesting. He might not have started it, but he would have accepted a challenge if someone gave it.

I think so too. It sounds likely to me, given what happened afterward.

[ He sighs. ]

But I suppose we won’t know unless the killer comes clean.

[ She hums in agreement and falls quiet for a few moments, her fingers still fidgeting in his hair, until: ]

You don't think it could have been Wang Lu, do you? When they were asking about his sword energy, I felt like my heart froze...

[ He shakes his head. ]

I asked him, and he said he felt offended that I would suggest he’d leave the body in the theater.

[ Wei Wuxian huffs out a laugh. ]

My heart stopped too, though. Sword slashes from the right cultivator would be strong enough to do a lot of damage.

[ She practically melts on top of him, expelling a huge exhausted sigh. ]

I thought it was something like that. He hasn't been training that long, but he's powerful, isn't he? That's such a relief...

[ He rubs her back, laughing softly. ]

I believe he wouldn’t have unfounded confidence. Though I can’t say for sure how strong he is, given he doesn’t exactly have a proper golden core.

[ He hums. ]

"Golden core"? Is that a cultivation thing you have in common?

[ She'll get back to the speculation, but this is important... especially the next part. She lifts her head enough to narrow her eyes at him a little. ]

He did offer to train with me, before... I'm not sure we should let you join until you're completely healed. And I'm probably not strong enough to get him to fight seriously, as I am.

[ She echoes the intonation with curiosity - if this is another one of those "bofa" jokes she's going to be very vexed. ]

It means “older brother”. For Wang Lu to call me that, it’s meant to be endearing, as if he’s fawning over me.

He does, doesn't he? [ Fawn over Wei Wuxian. Extravagantly, actually. Psyche rocks a little with suppressed amusement as she considers it. ] Then, could I call you that? ...Would I call him Wang-gege?

[ He ruffles her hair a bit. ]
