[ Wherever he is, Wei Wuxian happens upon Xiao pacing around late on Friday night. Xiao certainly doesn't seem like one to pace of all things, so he immediately knows something is up.

Well, more than general atmosphere being completely off. ]

Ah, Xiao. What is it?

[plunges]

[ His pacing isn't quite as panicked as it could be, but it's still an unusual form of behavior for someone with his demeanor.

He turns to look at Wei Wuxian with some surprise on his expression. ]

You're awake. ... It's nothing.

[ Clearly, it's something. ]

[diabolizes]

Nothing. You think I’m going to believe that?

[ Come on. He knows you don’t pace, Xiao. ]

What is it?

[plunges]

...You saw me earlier. The same feelings of uneasiness have remained since the birds left the island.

[ He closes his eyes. ]

I do not think this is by choice, either.

[diabolizes]

Right. The kind of flight that precedes death.

[ Just causal spooky things, you know. ]

But you didn’t seem quite as worked up before. Did all that rumbling get to you?

[ Wei Wuxian saw the periphery of the group, but decided to stay back and out of the way. ]

[plunges]

I don't know.

[ He's not normally so easily fazed. ]

Death does not scare me, and I've seen many things in my lifetime.

[diabolizes]

Even so, things still bother you, do they not?

[ For instance, Wei Wuxian annoying the hell out of him. ]

Were any of you able to take care of that… whatever it was?

[plunges]

...That may be true.

[ Wei Wuxian may annoy him, but Xiao has yet to turn away his company. That says something. ]

And as far as I'm aware, no. I believe it's still present as we speak.

[ Which is great! Fantastic. ]

[diabolizes]

That’s no good, is it?

[ He pauses, thinking. ]

And what skills have been used against it? If they didn’t work then, I doubt they’d work a second time around.

[ Ah… it’s too bad he doesn’t have talismans with him. ]

[plunges]

I believe most things thrown its way were physical objects. We avoided using our powers, given that this world seems to feed off of them.

[ And it would be bad if things got out of hand because of that.

He takes in a deep, quiet breath, and closes his eyes. ]

Tomorrow is a new day. As long as it doesn't escalate throughout the night, we can deal with it then.

[diabolizes]

[ Ah… it makes sense. If Wei Wuxian still had his old abilities at hand, he would have hesitated to use them too.

But he frowns. Xiao may be a serious guy, but he doesn’t usually seem so… thrown off. ]

Is that what you’re worried about? Escalation when none of us are prepared for it?

[plunges]

Like I said, I'm not the type to worry so easily. I've dealt with countless situations in my lifetime.

[ But Wei Wuxian is right -- Xiao is not normally this off of his game. And ye,s they are not prepared for what's about to happen. ]

Whatever the birds have sensed must be affecting me, too. And it must be because of what we saw today.

[diabolizes]

[ It clicks into place for him now, and he frowns. ]

So it’s affecting those with the same senses as birds, is it?

[ That’s telling of your powers, Xiao, but Wei Wuxian thinks that doesn’t need to be said. ]

It’s eerie, having so much of the life drained from the island, but I don’t feel it that strongly.

[ He’s human, after all. ]

[plunges]

It's what happens when you've been around them as much as I have.

Is that why you're awake?

[ Hopefully Xiao isn’t expecting something deep about how he’s worried sick— ]

Oh, no. I’m always up this late.

[ He’s a night owl, and that won’t change, even here. ]

[plunges]

[ That's fine. He'd rather take on the burden than see someone else worry over it. ]

...I see. I hope I was not disturbing you.

[diabolizes]

[ Is he seriously saying this when Wei Wuxian was the one who approached him? Wow. ]

You were disturbing me alright! I’ll tell on you to Rapt0r and Ho-oh.

[plunges]

[ ...Okay, even he can tell that's sarcasm!

He just gives him a flat look. ]

[ Thanks for the amusement once again, Xiao. ]

You didn’t disturb me. If anything, I disturbed you. Don’t worry so much about that stuff.

[plunges]

[ Why are you like this.

Well, at least he looks like he's got his mind off of things... ]

Then there's no need to be concerned about me. I will be fine, more so when we have a better idea of what to expect.

I'll decided whether or not I'll be concerned.

[ Don't tell him what to do!!! ]

Be sure you at least get some semblance of rest.
