[ He raises his brows, mildly amused by how quickly Xiao gets to the point. ]

From the spa to the trial, a lot has happened. I'm not sure how to feel about it all.

[ The haunting sound of Haruka's voice echoing throughout all the islands is something he doesn't think he'll forget. ]

Intimacy is touching someone in certain areas. What we did was simply kissing.

What was so special about all those kisses? I don't quite understand the appeal of the game. Do you feel attraction towards any of them?

[ What’s losing face anyway? He’s never cared about it.

But he gives Xiao’s question some thought. ]

I do, on a physical level. [ And emotional too, but he won’t say who. ] You know, before coming here I thought I only liked women, but I like men plenty too.

[ He tilts his head a little, at that last part. Xiao's never really paid attention to those things, and now that he's at least a little familiar with romance, Haruka being a man never really mattered to him. He supposes it must be different with others.

The kissing thing is still confusing, though. ]

[ He doesn't, but that's his response. ]

I cannot claim to understand the sentiment, but if that's what you like, I won't argue against it. I would much rather have that happen on Thursdays than the alternative, in any case.

[ He won’t go on about the benefits of kissing people. Not right now.

Instead, his expression shifts to something more solemn. ]

I was relieved that our entire group was safe, but… everything that happened yesterday took a toll on the lot of us. [ He pauses, glancing at Xiao. ] You and Haruka especially.

[plunges]

[ While Wei Wuxian isn't wrong about that, Xiao will downplay his own grievances about being pulled into another dimension. ]

There was a lot of slaughter involved in that dimension. I am used to it. Haruka had a tougher time than I did, given everything Lobelia's put him through.

Mm, you’re right. Haruka isn’t hardened against violence like many of us are.

[ And that undoubtedly makes all of this harder for him. ]

But you… surely it wasn’t easy seeing that happen to Haruka.

[ He's quiet, at that. It's true. Seeing Haruka so distraught, so afraid and hurt made Xiao's stomach churn. ]

I have seen worse, so it's nothing to worry about. I will make sure he's okay.

I’ll do my best to help. Suddenly coming face to face with violence like that takes a real toll.

[ Not that he thinks Haruka’s life has been easy, but it’s just… a different beast. ]
