[ He sees the smiles on Wei Wuxian's face and won't let it go unnoticed. ]

Are you speaking from experience?

[ He's glad for Xiao now, honestly. As someone who seems so... upright, he thinks that it makes sense for Xiao to now only focus on evil. ]

[ Essentially, yes. ]

My own choices led me to having my hand forced. I did not initially seek out to raise the dead.

What was your initial plan?

I didn't have one. Everything changed fast before I turned to my current path. I did what I had to do in order to survive.

[ He sighs. ]

To keep it short, I was dumped into a place full of fierce corpses and angry spirits. To keep myself from being torn apart, I had to learn how to command them.

[ He listens, doesn't say anything. Wei Wuxian was also thrown into less than ideal circumstances, and Xiao lets out a low hum in understanding.

Sometimes, you don't have a choice. Sometimes, you really do what you need to in order to survive. ]

What I do is considered heresy in many places, I'm sure, but as someone who used to rid the world of resentful energy... suddenly using it for my own purposes took quite a few by surprise. I'm sure you can imagine the arguments it sparked.
